Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure

Before your laser skin resurfacing treatment, we'll meet with you personally and explain the procedure in detail. You'll also receive instructions to follow after your treatment. We provide this consultation to make sure we understand your goals and can recommend a treatment that makes sense for you. Prior to your skin resurfacing treatment, you will need to:

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning
  • Discontinue any use of Retin-A
  • Stop using any medications that cause sun sensitivity or increase bleeding

Treatment time varies depending on the size of the treatment area, but the average procedure takes about 30 minutes. A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to the treatment to maximize comfort. Laser skin resurfacing can be combined with other skin rejuvenation treatments including BOTOX® Cosmetic and IPL therapy.

Recovery & Results

Most patients experience only a slight stinging sensation similar to sunburn and some mild swelling. These symptoms typically last 2 to 3 days. Usually, our patients are ready to resume their normal activities the day after their treatment. Depending on your concerns, several treatments may be needed for optimal results. We typically perform these treatments about a month apart.

Enhanced skin tone and texture; minimized lines and wrinkles; and tighter, more youthful skin are among the many benefits that Dr. Spence's laser skin resurfacing patients typically enjoy.
