JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel

JUVÉDERM Injectable Gel is a smooth consistency gel filler from the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and adds volume and hydration to the skin, JUVÉDERM is an excellent option for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, particularly nasolabial folds and marionette lines in the lower face. JUVÉDERM comes in two different formulations – JUVÉDERM Ultra and JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus. JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus is a more concentrated formulation that is well-suited for correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. Results from JUVÉDERM can last up to 1 year.

Restylane and Perlane

Restylane and Perlane are two different formulations of the same hyaluronic acid filler, which replace the volume that skin has lost over time. Restylane is used to fill in smile lines, lip lines, hollows under the eyes, and forehead wrinkles and is particularly well-suited for lip augmentation. Perlane is composed of larger gel particles and is intended for injection deeper into the skin for more severe creases and folds, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines around the jaw. Results from Restylane and Perlane typically last six months or longer.

RADIESSE

RADIESSE is a formulation of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a gel carrier, which provides both immediate and continuing results. RADIESSE stimulates the production of the body's own natural collagen for results that may last up to a year or more in some people. RADIESSE is used to fill out the hollows of the cheeks and deep folds in the face, contour the jaw line, and correct downward turning of the corners of the mouth. RADIESSE is referred to as a "semi-permanent" filler, creating results that can last from 9 to 14 months and may require touch-up treatments.

Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra Aesthetic is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic substance that is biocompatible and biodegradable. This product stimulates the growth of new collagen to replace collagen that has become depleted over time. The new collagen restores volume to the treated area. The benefits appear gradually during the months following your treatment.

How Do I Prepare for My Injectable Filler Procedure?

Preparing ahead of time for your injectable filler procedure can help the process go by faster and help you achieve a successful recovery. Before arriving to your appointment, ensure you do the following:

  • Quit smoking before receiving injectable fillers, as this can interfere with healing.
  • Minimize your alcohol consumption.
  • Avoid medications and supplements that are blood thinners.
  • Avoid using Retinol-based products and other skin care products.
  • Avoid sun exposure and risk of sunburn before your treatment.
  • Consult your doctor about stopping any medications that may interfere with your healing process.

Are There Any Risks with Injectable Fillers?

Just like any other cosmetic treatment, injectable fillers still come with potential risks. Although these risks are very rare, patients should be aware of the following:

  • Asymmetry
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Lumps or acne-like bumps underneath the skin
  • Redness
  • Swelling

While you will typically experience common symptoms such as redness and swelling after your injectable filler treatment, other risks are less common. At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, you can expect to receive high-quality treatment that helps you manage side effects and easily avoid complications while healing.

What Are the Benefits of Injectable Fillers?

In addition to improving your overall appearance, injectable fillers can provide the following benefits:

  • Eliminate the appearance of crow’s feet
  • Plump up the lips
  • Smooth creases in the chin
  • Enhance, define, and contour facial features
  • Smooth out wrinkles
  • Eliminate the need for surgery
  • Very little downtime
  • Easy maintenance
  • Natural-looking results

Recovery & Results

Injectable fillers are often referred to as "lunchtime procedures" for a reason you'll love: you can visit us for your treatment on your lunch hour – and return to work right after! In some cases, you might notice some mild redness that lasts a few hours. Discomfort generally ranges from none to minimal and can typically be managed with acetaminophen.

Your benefits will depend on the filler used and the area targeted. For example, with Sculptra, you'll notice that as the lost collagen is restored, your face will look smoother and revitalized. With other fillers, you will experience the benefits within days after your appointment.
