Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) Surgery

Many patients find themselves with sagging arms as an effect of aging or following significant weight loss. Depending on the nature of the problem, the body contouring procedure for correction will vary. Many gastric bypass patients undergo arm lift procedures with our team at Hillcrest Plastic Surgery.

  • Liposuction — For the patient with very elastic skin, which will snap back after the removal of fat by liposuction.
  • Short scar arm lift with liposuction — for the patient with moderate skin elasticity, some fat and excess skin.
  • Full scar arm lift — for the patient with mostly excess skin of poor elasticity.

The providers at Hillcrest Plastic Surgery believe in making every attempt to keep all arm lift scars above the elbow and on the inner aspect of the arm so that the scars can be easily hidden. Because of the nature of the skin on our arms, scars can be quite prominent. A protocol of our scar management has been worked out including topical agents and compressive garments to improve the appearance of these scars. Arm lift (brachioplasty) scars can take many months, even as long as a year, to reach their final appearance.
