Our Facial Rejuvenation Protocol

At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery, skin resurfacing is a key component of our "no downtime" facial rejuvenation protocol. At our practice in Orlando, the chemical peel and mechanical exfoliation offer your skin a fresh start by exfoliating the damaged surface of the skin, allowing new, younger-looking skin to take its place. Our resurfacing techniques are appropriate for all skin colors and types, and may also be used on areas such as the hands, back and chest.

Dr. Spence and his staff will also help you to prepare for skin resurfacing through the use of the appropriate skin care products. This helps to minimize unfavorable side effects and downtime, and generally improves the outcome of your procedure.

If you would like to learn more about skin resurfacing or other minimally-invasive treatments for facial rejuvenation, request a consultation at Hillcrest Plastic Surgery today. Or, you can give us a call at 407-999-2585 and one of our knowledgeable staff members will be happy to help you.

Chemical Peels

We offer a variety of chemical peels to treat an array of skin concerns. Some are considered lighter or superficial peels, and they usually produce results without significant downtime. The medium depth peels are capable of bringing about more dramatic changes, but they also require more recovery time due to the deeper exfoliation. Discover the many benefits of chemical peels by reading our Chemical Peels FAQs.

Superficial Peels

Alphahydroxy acid (AHA) peels are relatively mild and are often performed in a series for maximum effectiveness. We offer alphahydroxy acid peels in different concentrations, depending on your skin care needs. A mild chemical peel in Orlando:

  • Brightens dull or rough skin
  • Improves existing acne
  • Evens skin tone & irregular pigmentation

These peels may leave your skin slightly pink or flaky for several days following your procedure.

Medium Depth Peels

Medium depth peels are capable of correcting more extensive damage. Peels in this category include the more concentrated salicylic acid peels, Jessner peels, and the Obagi® Blue Peel. These more intense peels can:

  • Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Visibly improve overall skin texture
  • Treat existing acne and decrease oil production and bacteria count
  • Improve the appearance of scarring or pigmentation problems

Recovery from a medium depth peel may involve crusting, peeling, redness, and tightness. You may need to take up to a week off of work.

Mechanical Resurfacing

Another way that we can renew the surface of your skin is through mechanical resurfacing. This means that the outer layers of skin are removed either through dermaplaning or microdermabrasion at our Orlando medical spa.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning exfoliates skin with a delicate blade. The skin's surface is renewed and fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage are all diminished. Skin is immediately smoother and softer, and makeup goes on much more evenly. Most patients experience a recovery that is comparable to a mild sunburn and can resume their regular activities immediately after treatment.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is the process of exfoliating the outer layers of skin with the help of an abrasive substance or device. Crystal microdermabrasion is performed with a special device that propels a stream of fine crystals onto the skin, while simultaneously vacuuming away dirt, skin cells, and excess crystals.

DiamondTomeâ„¢ Microdermabrasion uses a special wand with a diamond tip to abrade the skin. The wand tip is made of natural diamond particles. The diamond particles polish the skin and remove dead skin cells, which are then vacuumed away. Diamond microdermabrasion is considered by many to be safer than crystal microdermabrasion, especially around the eyes and mouth. DiamondTome microdermabrasion is effective in treating fine lines, sun or age spots, wrinkles, dry skin, oily skin, acute acne and acne scars, and also stimulates collagen growth.

Total Rejuvenation

Many of our patients combine facial resurfacing with other treatments, such as dermal fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic for a more complete facial rejuvenation. Conditioning the skin with the appropriate products, both before and after treatment, is also an essential part of skin resurfacing. At Hillcrest Plastic Surgery, we will place you on a customized skin care regimen to maximize your results. Our skin care professionals will help you to decide which treatment or combination of treatments will work best for your specific goals.
