Sclerotherapy to Remove Visible Veins

Woman Feeling Her Leg After Sclerotherapy Most raised and highly visible veins are not a medical concern for our Orlando plastic surgery patients. They can, however, cause you to lack the confidence you need to show off your skin. Luckily there’s a procedure called sclerotherapy, available right here in Orlando, to help reduce the appearance of unsightly veins.

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment in which a solution is injected into the veins with a tiny needle. This medication causes the veins to collapse, and be reabsorbed into the body.

Does Sclerotherapy Hurt?

Most patients report minimal to no discomfort. Some will complain about the needle stick or say that there is some tenderness when the medication is administered.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?

The treatment is quick, taking anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the amount and size of the veins being treated. However, you will likely need 2 – 4 treatments in order to achieve optimal results. When you come in for your consultation, our provider can let you know how many visits you’ll need.

How Long Does it Take to See Results?

Initially after treatment, the area will look worse than before.  However, after a few weeks, the skin will look much clearer and smoother.

Who Should Avoid Sclerotherapy?

Our Orlando patients that have a history of deep-vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis should not undergo sclerotherapy. Pregnant and nursing women should also avoid this procedure.
