What is a facelift?
The facelift is a surgical treatment that is designed to offer patients a way to enhance their appearance, restore their youthful look, and tighten loose skin that might contribute to looking aged, tired, or unwell. By creating incisions within the hairline and behind the ears, the procedure can be done without noticeable scarring, allowing patients to naturally look younger!
The procedure is done under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. Dr. Kenrick A. Spence and Dr. Fernando Ovalle will advise patients before either procedure what they can expect from start to finish. The procedure does require patients to arrange transportation to and from the surgical office, and to take great care in following the aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and recovery. Patients are given post-operative instructions to follow closely to reduce the risk of infection or other complications that can occur with any type of surgery.
Who is a candidate for a facelift?
Patients who are the best candidates for this procedure are those who have significant sagging and skin laxity that impacts the appearance of their face. We see many patients at our practice who have already been using cosmetic injectables such as Botox or Juvéderm to reduce the signs of aging but find that the changes in their skin and face are too severe to achieve the desired results with noninvasive cosmetic injectables alone.
